Claire Hanson is considered to be one of the most elite make-up and hair artist in her field and is part of the small percentage to have risen to the very top of this industry. Claire has been a make-up artist for over 15 years and began her career in London working on prestigious events, including London Fashion Week, and soon became the make-up designer for some on the UK’s leading fashion brands.
Claire Hanson bridal make-up and hair styling consists of Claire and 5 highly talented artists. Claire and her business partner discovered these amazing girls, following a worldwide search for new talent in the make-up and hair industry, in 2008 and now they make up Claire’s eclectic and first class team that provide their artistry to brides in the UK and beyond.
‘The process from the initial first phone call or email to the actual wedding day is as much or as little involved as the bride would like it to be. I provide full design ideas and even a master class for those brides who wish to do their own makeup and their bridesmaids. For those on a set budget, or for larger groups and pre wedding pampers nothing is too little or too small and all can be designed with myself and the team. Inclusive of the cost are the services of myself or one of the girls until after your pictures following the services. This is extremely important for us as anything can happen after getting ready to saying your vows, we'll be there to check all is perfectly in place for your memories to be captured on film'.
Claire says: ‘Over the years I have been the inspiration for hundreds of brides who are able to draw on my expertise. I consider myself to have a unique ability to display the face to its full potential. This is why I have built up a following of devoted celebrity clientele. I have a passion for my work and loyalty to each and every client whether it be it a bride, a trainee artist, a business lady, or someone in the public eye. I establish a rapport with my clients from the start and view each and every one as important as the next. My success in this industry as well as my artistic style, demonstrates the critical and essential role I play in the success of the appearances, productions and events with whom I have worked.’
As Claire’s work has spanned all areas of the media, it is no surprise that from the onset she quickly began to receiving requests from many private individuals and weddings. As a result of her experience and influence in this field, she was approached to collaborate on one of the UK’s leading wedding books, the Wedding Bible, which has proved an invaluable asset to many brides since its release. Claire adds, ‘I was asked by Sarah Haywood to feature as their makeup expert for the Wedding Bible book, which I did, and my bridal clientele has grown ever since.’
It has been in the last two years that Claire’s Academy ‘Number 20’ really took off. Claire says, ‘This has allowed me the time to focus on and provide one to one master classes, workshops, and seasonal events, as well as Lifestyle/Confidence boosting days, all held in the comfort of my boutique studio in Oxfordshire.’

‘I am continually reinventing myself with the enormous help of my team and working hard on finding new ways of show casing my work.
That may be through working with major International artists such as Jon Bon Jovi, Versace & Andrea Bocelli, all of whom request my makeup and hair services upon their visits to the UK. My long-standing working relationship with Mr. Lionel Richie, which began for me as his personal groomer 5 years ago and now sees me in the position of his personal assistant, has now taken me to all parts of the world as I work closely with him on all of his public appearances.
My commercial work has featured in some of the world’s major magazines including Marie Claire, Elle, Grazia, Company, In-Style and Conde Nast Traveler. Newspaper supplements that my work has have featured in include The Mail on Sunday and The Sunday Times. Celebrities that all under been under my artistic wand include British-born actor and ex-husband of Angelina Jolie, Jonny Lee Miller, presenter Fearne Cotton, and actress Parminder Nagra famed for her role in the film ‘Bend It Like Beckham’ alongside actress Kierra Knightly and ER.’
